Reading speed varies widely by individual and content type:
- Technical/academic: 100-150 wpm
- Non-fiction: 200-250 wpm
- Fiction: 250-300 wpm
- Skimming: 400-700 wpm
Medium and other platforms use 238 wpm (based on research by Marc Brysbaert) as the standard for calculating estimated reading time on articles.
