Ovulation Calculator
Understanding your ovulation cycle is key whether you are trying to conceive or simply tracking your fertility. This calculator estimates your ovulation date and most fertile days based on your average menstrual cycle length.
Ovulation typically occurs approximately 14 days before the start of your next menstrual period. This is because the luteal phase (the time between ovulation and menstruation) is relatively consistent at 12-16 days, with 14 days being the average. The fertile window spans approximately 6 days: the 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself.
Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while an egg is viable for about 12-24 hours after release. This means that intercourse in the days leading up to ovulation can result in conception. The highest probability of conception occurs 1-2 days before ovulation.
Please note that this calculator provides estimates based on averages. Actual ovulation can vary from cycle to cycle even in women with regular periods. For more accurate ovulation tracking, consider using ovulation predictor kits, basal body temperature monitoring, or cervical mucus observation. This calculator should not be used as a method of contraception.
