Doppler Effect Calculator
Calculate observed frequency due to the Doppler effect for moving source or observer.

Doppler Effect Calculator

The Doppler effect is the change in frequency of a wave as the source and observer move relative to each other. An approaching siren sounds higher-pitched, and a receding one sounds lower. This calculator uses the general Doppler formula f = f₀(v + vₒ)/(v - vₛ) to compute the observed frequency for any combination of source and observer motion.
