Pennies to Dollars Calculator
Find out how much your penny collection is worth in dollars. Enter the number of pennies and see the total value, plus equivalents in quarters, dimes, nickels, and standard coin rolls.
There are 100 pennies in one US dollar. If you have a jar or bag full of pennies, this calculator tells you the total dollar value and how many coin rolls you can fill.
Formula: dollars = pennies / 100

Penny Weight Reference:

| 500 pennies | $5.00 | 1.25 kg (2.76 lb) |
| 1,000 pennies | $10.00 | 2.50 kg (5.51 lb) |

Modern US pennies (minted after 1982) weigh 2.5 grams each. Older copper pennies (pre-1982) weigh 3.1 grams. So a big jar of mixed pennies averages somewhere in between.
Tip: Most banks and credit unions will exchange rolled coins for free if you have an account. Coinstar machines at grocery stores also count loose coins but typically charge a fee of around 12% (unless you choose a gift card option, which is often fee-free).
